Privacy
Last updated May 2026
Tellings is an oral-history app. You record your voice. Your child reads it when they're grown. The privacy policy is built around protecting that relationship.
What we collect
Voice recordings, transcripts of those recordings, photos you upload, chapter drafts, and the metadata that connects them (dates, child name, your email). Nothing else.
What we never do
- Use your recordings or transcripts to train AI models — ours or anyone else's. Every API call has a no-train flag.
- Sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
- Show ads. There are no ads in Tellings.
- Track content. Product analytics are events only — never the content of those events.
- Share your content with third parties except the vendors required to run the service.
Vendors
- Supabase — database and file storage. Encrypted at rest.
- OpenAI Whisper — transcription only. No-store flag applied. Audio not retained by OpenAI after transcription.
- Anthropic Claude — chapter generation. No-train flag applied.
- Brevo — transactional email only (export ready, deletion confirmation, family invites).
- Lulu Direct — print fulfillment. Receives the book PDF only.
- RevenueCat — subscription management. No content data.
- Stripe — payment processing for book orders. No content data.
Your rights
- Export everything, anytime, on any plan. Settings → Data → Export.
- Delete everything, anytime, on any plan. 30-day grace period, then full deletion.
- Correct any transcript inline in the app.

Your archive outlives us. The public commitment, written into our operating agreement.
